Whether you're entering your first competition or you're an experienced display painter, The Iron Thistle is designed as a welcoming day for painters of every level. Spend the day painting, learning new skills, meeting fellow hobbyists and showcasing your best work in our inaugural painting competition.

Miniature Painting Competition
Your ticket includes one entry in as many categories as you wish.
Every competition entry will receive a professional plain-background photograph. After judging, judges and workshop hosts will be available for feedback to help entrants develop their painting and sculpting skills.
The Beginner category is designed to be encouraging and constructive, with feedback available for painters entering early in their competition journey.

Community diorama
Help build the Iron Thistle community diorama
Throughout the day, attendees can contribute to a unique collaborative display. This year's scene features brave warriors and peasants battling a fearsome creature from Scottish mythology. It's a chance to paint, relax, contribute to the event, and be part of something created by the community.
Photography
Better photos of your miniatures
Every competition entry receives a professional plain-background photograph. You can also join one of two 30-minute smartphone photography sessions and learn how to improve your own miniature photos using simple, accessible setups.
